Prodigal Son 2x05 "Bad Manners"
Feb. 9th, 2021 10:30 pmI watched this episode live. I can't remember the last time I did that with anything other than Grey's Anatomy. I downloaded the FOX app to watch it, but I think I'll just wait for it to drop on Hulu the next morning next week. I'm not cut out for commercial breaks anymore. I also watched the preview which I never do, and I regret it. haha
That Michael Myers looking shot of Ainsley rising from the bed behind the killer of the week to take care of business was the best. I love everything they're doing with her. She has a lot of her father in her, and I love how close she skirts to the line.
It was Meredith's mom from Grey's! I always get excited when I see that actress. I think she's great, and that fire shot was an awesome way to go out. Well, it was a horrific way to go out, but it looked cool.
JT! Missed him. Glad he's back.
I'm taking Edrisa's sugar and caffeine away from her. O_o
This episode gave me a lot of Jessica/Gil feels. I loved that whole thing of him telling her that she doesn't have to go to Martin, that he's there and will do anything she needs for her. My heart! He's so sweet with her, and I love it. I also love her scenes with Martin, though. Their bizarre parenting situation is giving me life. I hope Gil isn't too hurt when he finds out they've teamed up in that department, though. I want Gil and his turtleneck sweaters to be happy.
Spoilers for stuff in the preview for next week below!
I really underestimated how I was going to feel once the show officially started leaning harder into Malcolm's obvious canon love arc. I am feelingreally bummed and disappointed and sadface not very jazzed about next week's episode. But I wasn't going to enjoy it anyway, I don't think, because one of my least favorite tropes in fiction across all mediums is dream sequences. I usually find it boring, but I guess we'll see.
Maybe I should lean harder into my interest in Ainsley/Edrisa and gen for this fandom to counter the blow I knew was coming from day one. I think it's more disappointing for me when it's a het ship with two straight characters that gets sunk since I know A/E isn't going to happen either and it doesn't bother me because I knew there was no shot at all to begin with. Oh well. It's not the show's fault. I played myself with this one. lol

Date: 2021-02-11 01:34 am (UTC)OMG, when she was coming up behind the girl I was ready for it. And Malcolm telling Ainsley -- but also the blonde -- to stop was SO GOOD.
