In your own space, Talk about Your Snowflake Experience.

This was my first time participating, and I thought it was a lot of fun! I've had another DW for years that I only ever used to put exchange letters on. I made this account so I could make fandom and personal posts more generally and have only been using it since December, so it was great to find this challenge. I hope there are other challenges like this on DW because I would love to participate. It was a great way to be active here and engage with other people.

I did most of the challenges. I was going for all of them, but I did skip 9 and 11 and then I skipped the last two because my mind went totally blank in response to those. Whoops. I would have loved to have done 11 and created a fanwork, but I was already in the middle of multiple projects and didn't want to shift my focus to something new and interrupt my momentum there. Hopefully, I'll have another chance to go for all of them if it runs again next year, but eleven out of fifteen isn't bad for my first try! I'm counting this as a win, but mostly I'm just counting it as fun. I really liked responding to the challenges and talking to new people. I talked to more people in January here than I did in all of December since I'm not really sure how to meet people on DW. lol

I had a great time and I'm grateful to everyone who runs it!

Eleven out of fifteen challenges is a great return. The joy of a Snowflake is that participants can dip in and out if the challenges as they wish, we never want to exclude anyone who may not have time, or who doesn't fancy doing a particular challenge. We're just glad you're here and that you joined in.

Do check out the sunshine_challenge, it runs during July. It's not quite the same but is similar in that it sets challenges over the month for people to take part in. It would be nice to see you there :)

Thank you for taking part in Snowflake. I'm glad that you enjoyed it. The challenge wouldn't be the same without the participants :)

Sunshine Challenge looks awesome! Thanks for linking it. I had so much fun doing Snowflake and will definitely poke around Sunshine when it rolls around in the summer. :)

I had a really great time this year too as a newbie! I ended up doing them all to keep myself active here. It was great to get to know a lot of new people, and it was nice to meet you too! :)

DW can be a little strange to meet people on, I think. I'm still learning myself, having only been on since October! XD

Yeah, I'm still getting used to posting here. It's a quieter, much calmer platform than, say, Twitter, but I like that about it. Snowflake was great for getting in the habit of posting and was a nice pointer towards where other people are around here. It was nice meeting you too! Hopefully, DW continues to be fun for us newbies throughout the year. :D

eleven challenges out of fifteen is good for the first year! my first year was last year and i only did seven, altho to be fair i went on vacation for a week in the middle of the month. i don't know how to meet people on dw either, aside from, well, this. :D

Yeah, after I made my account I sort of looked around at the tumbleweed and went, hmm, now where is everybody? lol Snowflake was great for finding activity here. And finishing seven when you were on vacation for a week last year is way more than I would have done. haha

I'm not really sure how to meet people on DW

I think that's true for most of us, to be honest. One of the things that never ported over from LJ (or is they did, they haven't been maintained) are the general fandom squee comms. Also, the fic comms - I met a lot of folks back in the day through fic comms, but of course we all post on AO3 now, and the connection has been lost, I think.

I mean, I don't have a solution to this. Just my thinkings on why it's a challenge (I know, I'm so helpful :D)

LoL That's definitely true, though! I found and talked to a lot of people over on LJ through ship comms. It was easier to find people who share your interests and want to squee about the same things as you when there were a lot of active communities. I still miss those.

Eleven of fifteen is an entirely respectable haul for a first year, and a lot of the benefit of playing is from all the people who stop by or who you get to see do the same challenge.

I'm glad you did it! This was my third one and I really love it, I feel like every year I like it more. Maybe because I meet more people or I see more people's love of fandom?

I also did most of the challenges but definitely skipped a few ;)

I had a great time! And someone linked to Sunshine Challenge above, so I'll check that out in the summer. I've had a lot of fun meeting and talking to people here. I'm glad I did it too!
