Challenge #8

In your own space, create a wishlist.

This is fun! And I guess I have a few things I'd like if anyone has anything to pass on.

1) Cute animal pics so I can switch up my lockscreen. I'm particularly fond of hippos, manatee, and elephants.

2) Fic recs for Numb3rs! I'm interested in gen. I love Alan & Don & Charlie and the friendships on the show. Don is my favorite so anything Don focused would be great. Casefic, hurt/comfort, angst, humor, family feels. Longfic would be awesome. I'm in the middle of reading a fic right now and got great recs for comms that I'm going to dig through when I finish. If there are any specific fics I should bookmark before I start digging through those, I'd love the recs!

3) Horror movie recs. Have you seen anything good lately? Bonus if it's available on Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime, but I'd look into anything that sounded fun.

I used to be really into horror movies but over the years I seem to have transferred over to sci-fi and fantasy so, unfortunately, haven't got anything I could rec. I never did get into Numb3rs either, maybe I should take a look at the fiction. I've got hooked into fandoms without every seeing the shows before now, lol.

Cute animals are wonderful for making you smile aren't they! I will have a look for some, I did see a really cute elephant picture earlier today, I just need to remember where I saw it. I may be back ...

Thank you for sharing your wishlist, I hope your wishes are granted :)

Here fore ht cute animals and Numb3rs ... I haven't really checked out the AO3/fic recs. I'll have to do some investigating, LOL.

And horror ... I'm not all that into horror but you saw Haunting of Hill House, right?? It's TV/netflix but SO gripping and definitely up there in the scare factor.

Hill house was INCREDIBLE.

I will say, I did not enjoy Bly Manor as much. I think because it wasn't as "scary" as Hill House, but I didn't realize that until too far in so I spent the entire series waiting for the scary factor.

Try this ...

Humon Comics illustrates the sex lives of animals in adorable cartoons. I use this as inspiration for alien and fantasy species.

Blood of Zeus has extreme gore and violence with sort of demonic-zombie villains ... interspersed with exquisitely beautiful artwork and a whole henhouse of eastereggs from Greek culture and mythology. And of course, being Greek, family dysfunctions of literally epic scope.

I don't have any horror movie recs, but do you like true crime? I just watched Wild Wild Country, which is wild to say the least, in the beginning of the six part series you are kind of like "these are just some misguided hippies", but as the series goes on they start doing worse and worse stuff, and nobody seems to feel bad about it (no deaths in this one, but there is some attempted murder). I also watched American Murder: The Family Next Door this film is unique in that it doesn't follow the typical documentary format, there are no interviews, the story is completely pieced together from social media posts, text messages, police body cams, and police interviews tapes. It is a very sad story, but the way they complied it makes it fascinating, very much like you are getting a peek into these people's lives.

Seconding the Haunting of Hill House - I watched that one in a daze and it still haunts me, over a year later.

Also, if you watch foreign horror films, Train to Busan was pretty great. I don't remember where I watched it, but I only have Netflix and Prime, so likely you can find it on one of those.

No problem! I love guinea pigs of all kinds, but skinny pigs are just so funky and adorable. Apparently their owners will often knit them little sweaters.

I have some horror movie recs! :D

- As Above, So Below (Netflix)
- The Ritual (Netflix)
- Gothika (Netflix)
- Winchester (Netflix)
- The Shallows (Hulu)
- The Crazies (Amazon)
- Ready or Not (Hulu and Amazon)
- Doctor Sleep (Hulu and Amazon)
- Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (Hulu and Amazon)

And some that I couldn't find streaming free anywhere:
- The Ruins
- 47 Meters Down
- 47 Meters Down: Uncaged

(Sorry if the Hulu or Amazon ones aren't actually on there, I don't have those accounts so I was relying on google.)

Ahaha well I'm glad I could bump up the list if not add anything new XD

I haven't read the book (or any Stephen King books tbh, though I've seen a lot of the adaptations), but I loved Doctor Sleep! It was probably my favorite horror watch of last year except maybe Midsommar. Winchester I don't think is very scary, but it's got a great atmosphere and I enjoyed it a lot, so I hope you like it too! I just watched Gothika for the first time last year and thought it was pretty good, so I'd say it's worth a rewatch if you can.
