This is the perfect excuse to talk about how I've been rewatching Numb3rs. I've been blessed with a truly horrible memory and haven't watched it since its original run, so it's like getting to watch it for the first time all over again. I remember nothing, and it's wonderful. lol

My absolute favorite part of the show is the relationship between Alan, Charlie, and Don. Their family is so funny and sweet. I love how close they are, how they work through things together on cases and in their personal lives. Don and Charlie really sell being brothers. So many times, I've laughed, thinking something they did or said was exactly like me with my own siblings. And Judd Hirsch is a gem. He has great familial chemistry with people. I loved his relationship with his dad in Forever too. I like the cases on the show and love the friendships, Charlie/Amita, everything Larry ever says (haha), but the Eppes family is my happiest Numb3rs place. I love them.

Judd Hirsch was the cornerstone of that show. Sure, Charlie's math brought it to the next level or a crime show, but Alan as a character truly made everyone feel at home. I agree with you about how he cements the family feel.

I get so happy when he’s on screen. He has such natural charisma and yeah, he definitely glues everybody together and adds a layer of heart to the show. He’s a great actor and a fantastic character.

So very true. He was an awesome dad and even better because he wasn't perfect.

Yeah, I like that we got to see him work through things too, not just Charlie and Don. It made him feel more real.

This challenge is making me nostalgic as it's reminding me of all the shows I've enjoyed in the past.

Numb3rs was so great, and I agree with you, one of the best parts was the closeness of the Eppes family. That was really nice to see.

Loving the Eppes family is one of the only things I did remember about the show when I started my rewatch, but I still got hit in the chest with all the feels for them. They were perfectly cast.

The Eppes family is great. I like how their relationship changes over time - they have a rocky one in season 1 but they grow so close. And Amita and Larry are so wonderful - it's so refreshing to see various portrayals of smart STEM people on a show rather than one stereotypical view.

I watched a few episodes of Taxi the other day and I was thinking about how much I have always like Judd Hirsch and the characters he plays.

Yes! It’s so great to watch them grow and change and get closer throughout the show. And I love the broad range of characters. Everyone feels rounded and real, and it’s fun seeing all of the different personalities mix.

I’ve never seen Taxi, but I might need to check it out sometime for Judd Hirsch and Danny DeVito. I love them both so much.

Numb3rs has recently become one of my go-to shows. I love the Epps family and I love how the characters all have these huge problem outside of the story -- Don has issues that are, like, actually dude issues and Charlie has issues that are actual genius-level issues. And Alan just has to figure out how to keep raising these two men ... and yes, they are realistic brothers. And I love the team dynamic.

G'UH. DO I NEED TO REWATCH THIS SHOW AGAIN?! (Answer: No, because it is now courtesy of the pandemic in constant cycle on my Hulu).

hahahaha It's like the perfect comfort show for me. Thank you, Hulu. I just finished season three the other day. I'll start four soon. I'm trying to slow myself down and make it last because it really is like having a brand new show even though I've already seen it all because it's been so long since I've watched it. My beautiful, terrible memory has served me well on this front.

And Alan just has to figure out how to keep raising these two men ... The job never really is done, is it? lol

That's how I felt last year when I did my rewatch, like I'd remember certain episodes but I didn't remember most of them and didn't remember the overall season stories. But, man did I enjoy it. Almost immediately I wanted to rewatch it. I did a Numb3rs rewatch and a Mentalist rewatch and just *happy sigh*

And, bless him, yes. Alan's job was never done.


Also - I love your icon! Prodigal Son was one of the few shows I started and finished last season. <3

I haven’t watched The Mentalist since its original run either. I was just thinking the other day, though, that I miss Amanda Righetti because I haven’t seen her in anything since then, I don’t think.

Thanks! It was made by geekilicious. I love Prodigal Son! Between Edrisa, his dad and Jessica, there were so many laugh out loud moments for me. The crazier an episode got, the more fun it was. I’m really excited for season two!

She did a Hallmark movie not too long ago that was ... Hallmarky? LOL, it wasn't great but not the worst I've seen

And, yes, very excited about Season 2! And man, the show really seemed to dig going crazier and crazier.

If I recall she’s a writer? And he might be as well? She definitely has two kiddos. It’s worth a Sunday watch for sure, but it’s weird seeing her without Rigsby - I saw the movie almost immediately after a rewatch and was like “Okay .... but not enough murder.” 😂😂

Lol She and Rigsby could do one of those Hallmark Movie Mysteries to throw the murder in. I saw him in a show last year (or was it the year before... what is time?) called Emergence. I liked it a lot (still haven’t seen the finale), but it got canceled. So. Darn. haha

The Eppes family was great! (A friend of mine sent me the first season the summer after it aired because I hadn't watched it 'live' and I LOVED it! I watched that short first season, like, three times, and then immediately created a fic challenge comm, lol!)

I love that! Haha I wasn’t part of the fandom back in the day. I watched and loved it, but I’m only just now starting to check out the fic for it during my rewatch. I’m hoping there’s a lot of gen because that’s the Numb3rs craving I have and I feel like I could hang out here for a good while. I love all of these characters so much.

I didn't write gen, but it seemed like there was a lot of it! I imported numb3rs_awards to DW so you can check out all the Gen fic nominees/winners there, if you want. (Iirc, most of the gen fic was posted at ff.net. I remember some loooong case fic.)

Back in the day I also created A Guide to Numb3rs on LiveJournal for newbieguide. There were a couple of gen comms that appear to still be in existence (if not active) so you can also check there for fic.

Oh, and I also imported numb3rsficfind to DW; you might find something there you like.
