Snowflake Challenge #4

In your own space, create some goals.
Easy enough. I have two pretty simple fandom-related goals that I was already thinking about trying to keep, so this is a good excuse to put them down and hopefully make it more likely that I'll stick to them.
1) Read more fic.
That's it. That's the goal. haha I read a lot of books, but I've fallen out of the habit of reading fic on a semi-regular basis. I don't have a quota I want to meet or anything. I just think I've fallen into the trap of maximizing productivity when it comes to my hobbies. It doesn't matter if I can't mark down a fic for Goodreads or have a stack of books I want to get to. Reading is fun, and I never want it to become a chore. So if I feel like reading fic, I'm going to read fic without getting into a debate with myself about whether my time would be better spent reading something else.
2) Write a fic every month.
This is related to the other goal because comparing my time with books > fic is similar to the way I compare my time between writing something original to fic. There's no reason I can't do both if I work on time management. I'm not talking about epics either. Writing a drabble or a oneshot or drawerfic could fill this goal. It's more that I don't want to ignore the fun ideas I get for fic because I talk myself out of starting since I should be writing this or should be editing that. I can do both! With moderation.
I guess both goals boil down to me wanting to participate in fandom more this year as both a consumer and a creator. To go easy on myself and have fun. With any luck, I'll be able to pat myself on the back in December and congratulate myself on enjoying fandom this year without any pressure to ignore it when I didn't need to.
