Challenge #10

In your own space, write a love letter to Fandom in general, to a particular fandom, to a trope, a relationship, a character, creator, episode, or it could be your fandom friends. Share your love and squee as loud as you want to.

I think I'd like to give fandom a shout-out for the comfort it can provide in hard times. Fandom is always fun, but I'm particularly grateful here for its role in helping, even in a small way, during times when even a small amount of help goes a long way. Whether I'm sick, in need of distraction, exhausted, stressed out, sad—whatever it is, fandom can be a great place to burrow in, take some space from the anxieties of real life, and feel better even if only from the temporary comfort of my mind going someplace else for a while.

So I'm very thankful for fandom and all of the amazing creators out there that make it such an awesome place to be in the good times and the bad.

That's such an excellent response. It's amazing the difference it can make when you'e had a bad day or are feeling rough, just to be able to curl up with the comfort of the characters you love, doing things that can make you smile and taking your mind off things.

I don't know why reading H/C fic makes me feel better when real life is messed up, but it does. Writing it makes me feel even better!

Like a security blanket you can carry around in your phone when you need it. :D

That's true for me too, I think! Both physical and emotional hurt/comfort can be as comforting as it is for the characters.
