Fic Faves (December 2020)

majorrI didn't read much fic this month, but what I did read was great, particularly in one of my lifelong nostalgia fandoms. I rewatched all three of the Mighty Ducks movies with my niece this week. I love them as much as an adult as I did when I was a kid. The kick of nostalgia I get when I watch it is almost a physical pain, I love it. I used to watch them over and over again when I was little. My niece liked them. She laughed a lot and wished she could hang out with the Ducks. I remember feeling the exact same way. I went poking around the fandom and loved the fics I read.

6K. This was a really sweet 5 + 1 oneshot. I love that format and fics that take place over a long period of time. Best friends to lovers is one of my favorite ship dynamics, and this ship is great for it. This fic hits all of the tentative, confused, loyal, protective, sweetness that I love.

8.6K. This is the sequel to Occupational Hazards. It takes place between scenes of the previous fic and shows the get-together stage of Charlie and Adam's relationship. It is adorable and funny, full of youthful confusion and the terrible decision on Charlie's part to take Portman's advice on love. lol I loved it a lot.

21K. This fic blew me away. It's a future fic where Charlie becomes a single dad very young and Adam helps him raise the baby. It made me laugh and cry. It was a beautiful slow burn told in a nonlinear format and was probably my favorite fic of the year. It was funny and sweet, hit me right in the heart. I l o v e d it.
