I love how they both fill a void in each other’s lives when they enter it. Ruth is at the end of her rope with everybody and everything, and then here comes Tony totally supporting her with absolutely no reason to do so except his own desire for companionship. I love how they were instantly in it together. Tony is lonely, Ruth is tired of everybody’s crap, and they fill gaps with each other. Tony with his optimism, support, and faith; Ruth by accepting Tony into her life in a way he isn’t used to. I want to see them grow in their relationship, be happy, or go through more horrible stuff together, coming out the other side even stronger/closer.

The movie did such a great job of balancing relatable drama with dark humor and/or over the top stuff, and I’d love more of that.
Falling In Love
Tony obviously gets a crush on her pretty quick, and she becomes fond of him. What does Tony’s oddball courtship look like? Is it more of a gradual thing for Ruth, or does their shared trauma help things along?
Fluff and Hurt/Comfort
I would love to see the time between Ruth getting her and Tony to help and the end scene with the barbecue! Tony recovering in the hospital. Ruth being there for him, and their mutual gratitude for the lengths they went to in order to protect the other.
Getting Together - One character wearing the other's clothes leads to feelings realization
Especially if it’s Tony lounging around in something of Ruth’s without even asking, and her being surprised that, hey, she doesn’t mind it.
Getting Together - Recovering from Shared Trauma Leads to Feelings and Codependency
What are the different ways they cope with what happened to them, healthy or unhealthy? How do they help each other through it? Maybe Tony and Kevin show up a lot unannounced or Ruth surprises them both by coming around a lot. I’d even love it if she second-guessed herself when she realized she was doing it, and Tony was just like LOL no, stay, stay forever.
Grand Romantic Gesture - Gone Hilariously Wrong But Sentiment Is Appreciated
Tony strikes me as someone made of fail in both sweet and hilarious ways. I’d like to see that in action.
Holding Hands While Sleeping
I’d love this pre-relationship too as a step to getting together. Like, if she and Tony had more incidental sleepovers, and found themselves sleeping that way multiple times: in bed, drunk and asleep on the floor, one on the couch, the other on a chair. Their subconsciouses always reaching for the other.
Jealousy: Pining Character A watches someone flirting with B
I want jealous!Tony so bad! Especially because people have called him obnoxious and he doesn’t have friends. If he saw someone, maybe with more game or “normal” in comparison, hitting on Ruth, those insecurities or some self-doubt might pop up. Emotional torture is a love of mine. On the flip side, maybe someone at the church has a crush on Tony, and Ruth is surprised by the green monster that takes over her. Probably Tony would be back in lol mode because he’s all about Ruth.

The love, loyalty and devotion between these two will never not make my heart ache. I would love to see a wide range of art for them: a fluffy moment, sweet touching, a moment of sad comfort, happy/scared/cozy/worn out, intense looks, hugs, anything that conveys how close they are or how they depend on each other.

I love water and water imagery, so if you wanted to include a waterfall in the background of any other tag (or rain or any body of water) that would also be cool. I like both daylight and nighttime for this scenario, either way.
Arm Around Other Character's Shoulders While Walking
Casual touching! I’d love them smiling or happy. Is one of them blushing? Alternatively, I’d love this late in their journey near Mordor with Sam maybe trying to lift Frodo’s spirits with the gesture.

Again, anywhere. I love it as casual intimacy, or with secret loving smiles, as a serious gesture of support/comfort/love, an intense Us Against the World look, between them as they walk, on one of their laps as they sit, secretly holding each other’s hands under a table or out of sight of others.

I have no preference for who gets their cheek cupped.

Can it be Frodo getting the kiss in this one? Lying down, standing up, leaning across where they’re sitting to do it: all good.
Alternate Universe - Bad Guys Win
Anything that depicts that evil won, but Sam and Frodo are facing the new darkness together. Cool with depictions of one or both hurt, chains/cuffs, enslavement of the Shire, blood, inflicted or implied violence.
Fluff and Hurt/Comfort
Maybe Sam holding Frodo while he struggles with the pull of the Ring. Or Frodo with Sam’s head in his lap while he takes some rest and his hurt is mostly extreme fatigue and fear.

I’m down for post-war, canon divergence stuff during canon, or pre-canon alternate meeting type situations too. I love their bond and how far they end up compared to where they start with each other and each stage of their relationship along the way, so feel free to set it at any point. Loyalty and protectiveness, banter and laughter, serious moments and thoughtfulness, hesitance, cultural misunderstandings, devotion, new experiences, hair and braid stuff, pining, joy, angst, and despair: everything is good here.

I have a preference for physically hurt Gimli and emotionally hurt/panicked/tortured/worried Legolas.
Character Offers Themselves in Trade for Someone Else's Release/Safety
I loooove the idea of Gimli playing the hero and Legolas being like, WHAT NO. Especially if the captor goes for it, and Legolas finds himself struggling to stay captive for fear that Gimli will be killed in there alone.
Cursed Telepathy - Character only hears the bad things others think about them; this is misleading
I love pining and misunderstandings, and this feels like the perfect scenario for both.
Hurt/Comfort - Captured and tortured together & doing their best to help each other through it
I would particularly enjoy the Dark Night of the Soul moment for this scenario. Gimli finally worn down, and Legolas panicking because he knows he won’t survive much longer if he doesn’t stay focused and ready.
Marriage Hunt - Character Unfamiliar With Custom Accidentally Captures a Spouse
I can just imagine the absolute horror from Legolas if he found himself the accidental groom of a Dwarf if this takes place pre-canon. LOL Alternately, if it’s post-war and there’s already pining and unspoken emotional weight between them to make this messy for them both, that sounds like some great angst fodder. “It was an accident. He doesn’t really want me!” :D Especially if Gimli vows to find a way to undo it, convinced Legolas doesn’t want to be his accidental husband, and that’s just a whole heart punch for Legolas to hear. So many ways this tag could go. I’m here for any of them. (Note: You can ignore the 'Wedding' DNW if you need it for this prompt.)
A and B were once enemies; now A can only save B's life by erasing B's good memories of them
This lends itself to some grade-A pining when Legolas gets mind wiped from Gimli. Does he get his memories back? I hope so, but in the meantime: Pain. Make. Legolas. Suffer. Please.
Captivity - Captives are forced to fight each other
Gah! This scenario is so good. They hold back, right? I imagine they would, but man would it suck for them when they were forced to get more serious. That feeling of preferring to take a hit than give one is so terribleand wonderful. Put them through it! I’m fine with violence, blood, injuries. Double fine with the emotional torture of NOT wanting to do it. Good stuff.

I want happiness for Bob! Please set the fic either in an AU where he lived or before he died. I want the happiness that was or the happiness that could have been. A normal, stable, happy life for Joyce. Family bonding moments. Humor, fluff, or angst with a happy ending: all great! I love panic and fear when worried about someone. Or knowing what loss feels like and doing anything to prevent it from happening again. Joyce thinking back on how she overlooked him in high school and how life can be funny and kind of beautiful the way it works out. Loyalty and protectiveness and love!

Aftermath of Torture - Character trying to hold it together is clearly low-key fraying at the edges
What if they were able to save him from the Demodogs but only after they started to attack. The terror and pain of that experience would have left some mental/emotional scars to go with the physical ones, but Bob is so sweet. How long does he get away with trying to pretend he’s right as rain?
Character A does morally questionable things to save B; doesn't think B will forgive them
Maybe things worked out differently in the hospital and Joyce shoved Dr. Owens into the Demodogs in order to save Bob. Or something else in the heat of the moment that makes her think Bob will see her differently now. But he doesn’t.
Cuddling & Snuggling
If you think it’s too fluffy, trust me, it’s not.
Families - Characters go to family therapy
I loved the Bob & Will dynamic and wished we got to see Jonathan come around and have family bonding moments. Is the therapist oblivious to what’s going on so there’s a lot of coded talking-around-stuff in the session(s), or is it someone in the know that they can all be open with? I’m down for angst or humor or a mix of both.
Character A Finds Magical Artifact or Spell to Return B From the Dead - B Is the Same
Are there consequences for this? A cost? Emotional Hurt/Comfort for Joyce after getting him back after (however long) of grieving/mourning.
Extreme overprotectiveness of resurrected loved one
Now that she has Bob back, Joyce isn’t fooling around.
Giving your sick s/o your coat to keep them warm
I especially love this if it’s Joyce putting her coat over Bob since it obviously wouldn’t fit him. Just fussing over him, and Bob being grateful but amused. I love outdoor settings too, so if they’re stuck for the moment outside in the cold while he’s sick for some reason, all the better. Maybe the car broke down?
Lost/trapped together in a strange/spooky/dangerous place
Mundane trouble that brings up past trauma. Stranger Things type action/adventure horror trouble. Either way.
